Fellow’s Reflection

Nick Iverson, MD

Fellow, Academic Hospital Medicine

Nick Iverson is an academic hospital medicine fellow at UCSF, and this summer will join the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.  Nick is from near Seattle, WA, attended the University of Washington as an undergraduate where he studied biochemistry and music, and is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY.  In medical school, Nick focused on healthcare for the underserved and health policy education.  He completed an internal medicine residency at UCSF, and completed the health professions education pathway.  His main areas of academic focus during fellowship were GME curriculum development and program evaluation, research to better understand opioid prescribing on discharge for hospitalized patients, and QI initiatives to improve transitions of care for patients experiencing homelessness.

Learning Objectives:

Goal: Discuss the exploration of balance during the academic hospital medicine fellowship.  Our objectives are to:

  1. Explore the process of balancing the big picture and the little details.
  2. Calculate how much to take on: the balance of yes and no.
  3. Reframe the balance of work and life.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,

Stephanie and Steve
