Lingsheng Li and Elizabeth Dzeng wrote an opinion piece for the San Francisco Chronicle. Based on qualitative interviews conducted of volunteer clinicians in the New York City initial COVID-19 surge, they emphasize how health care workers and the health care system are struggling with the volumes of COVID-19 patients and suggest that public health efforts must be the front line of the pandemic response. Anna Parks (UCSF Heme-Onc fellow) and Margaret Fang published a study describing the risk of thrombosis after CAR-T therapy in 91 people with lymphoma or multiple myeloma. Within 60 days of treatment, 9% of patients developed venous thrombosis. This study is among the first to evaluate the risk of thrombosis in this patient population and found that the risk is not insignificant. Read More
