DHM Internal Grants Program (IGP) Awardee

Lev Malevanchik and Nishita Nigam's "Improving Communication with Patients with Limited English Proficiency" was selected as the DHM Internal Grants Program (IGP) awardee this year. This is a proposal to expand on and improve work on the limited English proficiency QI metric by improving accuracy of the measure, incorporating it in the QI Individual Provider Dashboard and to investigate barriers to interpreter utilization using Lean methodology.

The internal grants are reviewed by a broad and diverse group of hospitalists from all three UCSF sites: Charlie Wray (SFVA), Larry Haber (ZSFG), Sarah Schaeffer, Andy Lai, Margaret Fang and Kirsten Kangelaris (chair).
