Revised Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol Scale

Jonathan Duong, Maggie Jones, Anne Ritchie, and colleagues generated the Revised Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol (CIWA-Ar) scale and will be available to treat patients with mild-moderate alcohol withdrawal on all TCU floors at UCSF Parnassus. CIWA-Ar is an evidence-based method of treating alcohol withdrawal in a symptom-triggered manner and has been shown to reduce length of stay and cumulative benzodiazepine dose.
